Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
NameJog (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the NameJog mobile app and related services at namejog.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, a hashed password, and an optional display name. We use this to authenticate you and sync your data across devices.
Contact data you add
Information you enter in the app—such as names, notes, labels, phone numbers, addresses, dates, and custom fields—is stored on our servers so you can access it when signed in.
Location (optional)
If you allow location access, we may use your device location to pre-fill where you met someone. Location is only used when you interact with features that request it. You can deny or revoke permission in iOS Settings at any time.
Device contacts (optional)
If you tap Import Contacts, we read names from your address book only for that import. We do not continuously scan your contacts in the background.
Voice add (optional)
If you use Add by voice, speech is converted to text on your device. When “Smarter voice parsing” is enabled in Settings (on by default), the text transcript and your existing label names may be sent to our servers so we can extract names and suggest labels using Amazon Web Services (including AWS Bedrock). We do not send audio recordings. You can turn this off in Settings to use on-device parsing only. Transcripts are not used to train third-party AI models.
Voice search (optional)
If you use Search by voice on the View tab, speech is converted to text on your device. When “Smarter voice search” is enabled in Settings (on by default), the text of your question is sent to our servers so we can match it against your contact list using Amazon Web Services (including AWS Bedrock). We do not send audio recordings. You can turn this off to search only among contacts synced on this device. Transcripts are not used to train third-party AI models.
How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the NameJog app
- Sync and back up your data to your account
- Send service-related email (e.g., password reset) when you request it
- Respond to support requests
- Protect against abuse, fraud, and security incidents
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information
- We do not use your contact data for third-party advertising
Where data is stored
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on secure cloud infrastructure in the United States (including Amazon Web Services). Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing; we do not store plain-text passwords.
Data retention
We retain your account and contact data while your account is active. When you delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account), we remove your user record and associated contacts, labels, and authentication tokens from our systems.
Your choices
- Access and update: View and edit your data in the app while signed in.
- Delete account: Settings → Delete account permanently removes your server-side data.
- Permissions: Manage location and contacts access in iOS Settings → NameJog.
Children
NameJog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
